I mean those horse people left the Kaldorei with only Teldrassil left.Ĭan't join the fight against the legion/scourge easily, not that I wanted to since the scourge is unstoppable. You have absolutely unstoppable hordes of centaurs, and so on. EVERYONE joins the horde, because why not I guess, making it a superpower in no time, more like a troll coalition really. Then again, as said, it's blob or be blobbed, and you rather do it quick or you're done. In ten years, all happens and now you have to become The Blob or be the Blobbed. While being nice for Warcraft and the lore, it goes really bad with CK2. When they added other bookmarks (especially the Fall of Arnor), I played longer : The war took time, there was a lot of events that were more spreadout in the timeframe and the two side where very enjoyable (espcially Arthedain as yo uwere slightly weaker than the Witch King) But even after the events, the world was still "young and divided" with opportunities and a lot of time before the events of the War of the Rings triggersįrom my point of view, everything feels rushed (timewise with the events) as said above, it happens all too fast for a CK2 game. It reminds me alot what I experienced with the LOTR mod when there was only one bookmark (War of the Ring) : after the events stuff, with most faction I tend to stop playing You can't afford to play a vassal and improve your position because your realm will either be the target of an invasion event or by an AI superblob.Īgain, I love this mod but, everytime I play (and I play it alot) I just see myself go back to the menu in one hour max : I either got defeated, or I was forced to blob in order to survive : but there is no pleasure playing as a sduperpower with a little to no rivals to challenge you. It almost feel like : blob or be blobbed, you can't take your time, play intrigue and matrimonial games. I wanted to try Wintergarde to form a sort of human colony in Northrend but thats impossible really. But it felt so rushy/meta/forced for my survival that it wasn't pleasing. I've managed to beat the scourge spawn only once with the Drakkari, rushing all counties where the dead spawn and denying them land. Playing minor countries is hard or impossible because of big blobs. The timeframe being so thin (blame it on Blizzard) where in ten years those three invasions happens then you got nothing for you. It is a hell of a fun to play and witness the scourge, horde and demon invasions as one of the great figures from the strategy and MMO gamesīut, you are extremely limited. If all else fails, a letter to the people at Liquid couldn t hurt. While I enjoy this mod a lot, I have to agree with some of the people asking for a more sandbox/peaceful bookmarks So if you could somehow find a way to extract these models into a format that a program like 3D Studio Max could understand, you could then import these raw models into Rise of Nations.ĭon't ask me how you would do any of these things since I honestly don't know, but search around a bit on the internet and see if you can't find out a few things. I'm willing to bet that these files are similar to the model files that BHG uses in RoN. I poked around a few of the directories and noticed that there is an Archives folder that contains a number of. So back to the topic of modding RoN so that it could have a LoTR feel to it. Again, neat concept but a bit too much work for many people. It also had this interesting concept where horses were a resource, and in order to have cavalry you needed to gather the hourse and then stick one of your guys on top of it. An archery range to make a bowman) You could then take your trained unit and have them train at another building to turn into yet another new unit. Battle realms was a very pretty game that sufferred from having a complicated unit creation system where you would send a peasant to a building for training (i.e. You can definitely see that what the developer, Liquid Entertainment, did was use their older Battle Realms engine to create this game. The over emphasis on special abilities that required heavy micro was also a bit of a turn off to me. The visuals are nice and the single player story is good, it just sorta falls flat in the end though. I can see how it could be a bit dissapointing to when contrasted against a game like Rise of Nations. I've been playing around with War of the Ring lately as well.
